Italian Apostrophes – Learn Italian Through Songs in 2021 – Go Learn Italian!

A new year deserves a brand new method: here you can learn some Italian apostrophes by listening to “La prima stella della sera” by Antonella Ruggiero, the former female singer of the Italian group Matia Bazar:

Strano sentimento non ci molla mai,
Strange feeling never leaves us,
come il diavolo che vive dentro noi.
like the devil who’s living inside us.
Ogni ripensamento dà soltanto guai,
Every second thought brings only troubles,
ma quel dubbio c’è e non si sa perché.
but that doubt is here and we don’t know why.

Imagine he wouldn’t stay here anymore
a cambiare un po’ la monotonia,
to slightly change the monotony,
probabilmente non sarebbe più mia
probably wouldn’t be mine anymore
questa strana follia quando ancora
this strange madness, when still
non so se ci credi o no, ma se credi…
I don’t know if you believe it or not, but if you believe…

That it’s a passing cloud, liberty’s ghost,
sensuale rito di primavera, all’orizzonte apparirà
sensual rite of spring, on the horizon, will appear
l’ultima spiaggia quasi vera e ancora in cielo
the last beach, almost true and then in the sky
brillerà la prima stella della sera,
will shine the first evening star,
d’immenso s’illuminerà la prima stella…
with immensity will light up the first star…

Strano sentimento ci costringe così a indugiare un po’,
Strange feeling forces us so to delay little,
to think about it, a biting dog doesn’t bark more,
ma risveglia in noi la curiosità.
but arouses our curiosity.

And at last a great torment that, already weak,
you lose the power, a passport for the gloom
that leaves you half way, on the finish and at the start,
se ci credi o no, ma se credi…
if you believe it or not, but if you believe…

That it’s a passing cloud, liberty’s ghost,
a foreigner in a fantastic land, only on the border you’ll find
l’ultima spiaggia, quasi vera e all’orizzonte
the last beach, almost true and on the horizon
apparirà la prima stella della sera
will appear the first evening star
e all’infinito svanirà ogni paura e ogni frontiera.
and in the infinite space will disappear every fear and every border.

All’orizzonte apparirà l’ultima spiaggia quasi vera,
on the horizon will appear the last beach, almost true,
with immensity will light up the first star…
